The UFI code

The Unique Formula Identifier, the UFI code

The UFI code will be introduced as a new identification element to enable a clear and quick assignment of the product to the reported recipe when contacting a poison information service. It is an alphanumeric code, consisting of 16 numbers and letters in four blocks separated by a hyphen. The UFI must be preceded by the prefix „UFI“ (example: „UFI: E600-30P1-S00Y-5079“).

The UFI code must be placed close to the other identification elements. If no identification label is required, the UFI must be indicated in section 1.1 of the safety data sheet. For all other products, a voluntary indication in section 1.1 of the safety data sheet is recommended.

Products labelled with the same UFI must also have the same formulation. If the formulation of a product changes, the UFI must also be changed. It is also possible to assign several UFIs to one recipe. If the recipe of the upstream supplier is not changed, his UFI code can also be used further on.

The UFI code must be attached in the vicinity of the other labeling elements. If no label is required, the UFI must be given in section 1.1 of the safety data sheet. For all other products, voluntary information in section 1.1 of the safety data sheet is recommended.

The UFI can be created via the ECHA UFI Generator resulting from the VAT identification number and a unique recipe number. It must be attached to the packaging containing the hazardous mixture. The UFI code alone cannot be used to derive information on the composition of the mixture.

We provide you with competent support in the creation of the UFI code, both through communication with the suppliers and through the execution of the task itself.
